Alpine Dog Tactical BioThane Collars are the perfect addition to your pup's adventurous spirit. Crafted with authentic 1" BioThane, they are made to be durable and easy to clean. These collars offer a tactical-style metal buckle with a breaking strength of 2KN, and a sturdy stainless steel D-ring. This series of collar is perfect for all land-based adventuring, though it is not designed for water wear due to the buckle style used.

Our gear is inspired by and designed for the wildest dogs out there! Welcome to the peak of adventure.

Adjusting Your Collar:

This collar adjusts just like any cloth or fabric adjustable collar. The only difference is that due to the thickness of BioThane, it can require a little more finesse. The good news is that this is also what makes our collars hold their adjustment so well!

To shorten your collar, take the single end and work the webbing up through the tri-glide and pull tight through to the other side where the webbing is doubled. Push the webbing through the buckle to create slack and even out both sides of the loop. Work the buckle back up so it’s at the end of the loop and pull tight. Pulling tight helps ensure there won’t be any slippage. To lengthen your collar, follow these steps in reverse. Once the collar is adjusted to the proper size, close the buckle so the collar is in a closed loop. From here, you can make minor tweaks to make sure the webbing is curved correctly on the doubled side. It can take some finagling to get it just right.

Due to the nature of the material, BioThane has a tendency to hold its shape. This means that it is normal for the webbing to show some buckling if it is adjusted to a different size. Over time, this will diminish. If this is something that would bother you, we recommend checking out our Mutt Pack line of collars instead!

Care instructions:

As with any metal buckle collar, it is important to inspect for wear and tear before each use, and ensure the hardware is free from debris and particles such as sand and dirt. Always make sure to click the buckle fully into place when using. Because the buckle is metal, this collar is not designed for water-wear as water exposure can cause it to corrode over time. Salt water is particularly problematic for metals. If the buckle is subjected to water exposure, we recommend drying it with a towel as soon as possible to improve longevity.

To clean the webbing, we recommend using warm water and a mild detergent. A sponge can be used to scrub away dirt if needed. Dry throughly with a towel after, especially the buckle.

While the finish on our black hardware is very strong, like any black hardware it is not impervious to scratches.

General Safety Tips:

  • Inspect your gear before each use for wear and tear that could cause safety issues.
  • Always make sure you are clipping directly to the d-ring and not the tag ring.
  • Never use a leash or collar for anything other than it’s intended purpose. Misuse of gear can lead to safety issues.
  • Never leave your dog unattended while any gear is being worn. It is also not advised to allow your dog to drag their leash behind them on the ground.
  • It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine what gear is appropriate for their dog’s size, strength, and activity level. Alpine Dog is not liable for any injuries or damage that may occur as a result of use.
